The Hong Kong Women's Choir

How do I join?

All you have to do is sing in tune - we can teach you the rest! Our Musical Director will audition you and place you in the approproiate section for your vocal range. You don't need to be a "trained" singer or be able to read music. We would only like you to sing along with your section.

The Hong Kong Women's Choir performs twice a year (Spring and Winter) and auditions are held at the start of each season.

At present, NOVA (the accompanied choir) rehearsals are on every Wednesday (1pm - 3pm) or Thursday (7pm - 9pm), starting from early September to December for the Fall season; and from January to May for the Spring season. Rehearsals of each season will culminate in public performances and charity concerts for Christmas and at the end of May.

Members can go to either Wednesday or Thursday or both rehearsals depending on their schedule. Rehearsal venue is in Central on Wednesdays and in Wanchai on Thursdays.

For ladies who can sing A-Cappella (without piano accompaniment), and like to have a musical challenge, they can join GRACE NOTES, a group of 8-12 ladies who perform in close harmony. GRACE NOTES practices independently from NOVA, and presently practises alternate Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Fees for spring 2011 season (over 18 weeks from Jan to May): HK$1,800 (covers venue, conductor, pianist, music scores etc)
